Celebrating
Celebrating your birthday out of the country is impressive enough. However, determining what day, when and where especially when you are in two different countries on the same day in-conjunction to receiving well-wishing from your native country which is on a whole separate day is fun and confusing, to say the least.
Fun times. Today in the United States is my official birthday. However, I began celebrating about two days ago in Shanghai, China since I was going to be flying out the next day to Korea and wanted to get some actual celebration time in Shanghai one of my favorite cities outside of my birthplace--San Francisco. I started the celebration with drinks at the top of the Park Hyatt in Pudong which the locals say resemble a bottle cap. Don't quote me but I believe I was on the 96 floor of the building in the Century Avenue bar which had some fantastic and breathtaking views of Shanghai and Pudong. I also had a chance to a walk on The Bund which genuinely would have been all I needed--such a spectacular view of Pudong. It was a chilly forty-two degrees, but I never complain about being on The Bund. I have included a picture above on this blog.
The next day I celebrated in the office with co-workers in Shanghai. Later that evening I flew to Korea... not too much celebrating here just a long drive to the hotel. Then after midnight online, the Facebook celebratory posts began rolling in. Today in the USA is my birthday, so I imagine the celebration will continue.
Cheers!
