Day of Hearts
It's Valentine's day. There are several points of origin for this day which I won't go into on this entry--they're easy to research. The most recognizable way to celebrate it is as a day of love-- a day of hearts as I call it. People give each other cards, flowers, candies, etc., and go out for nice dinners. I remember when I was in grade school we would give our friends little cards and Sweethearts candies that said things like 'be mine,' 'true love' or 'smile,' etc. I loved it. It was fun, simple, and innocent, cool. Fast forward a few years; I'm not saying how many, these items are still cool things to give out today. I received a few last years at work, and I was just as happy to receive them as I was all those years ago in school. The language of the candidates has changed some. They say things more in tune with the times, like 'BFF,' 'text me,' 'say yes,' etc. I like them because they are reasonably priced and fun to give and receive. You don't have to spend a lot of cash to let your friends and family know you are thinking about them. I'm a true believer that it's the thought that counts, and this year I decided to reach out to my friends and family with a unique digital message. I crafted personalized emails and text messages, and so far they have gone over very well.
For those of you taking time to read this, I say to you, "Happy Valentine's Day." I drew a unique picture just for today.
Enjoy!
